    What is Backtest Data?

Forex backtest data refers to historical price and volume data used to evaluate the performance of a trading strategy by simulating its application over past market conditions. The reason traders backtest is to see how a trading system would have performed if it had been used in the past, which can help traders refine their strategies before applying them to live trading.

    cTrader Market Data

With Forex the cTrader platform provides data from 2014 to the current date and for some traders this does not go far enough back for a robust test for their automated trading systems. The more data available the better the tests over different market conditions. It is possible to download and use 3rd party market data to go back in the past and have up to 15 years of market data for testing, this is 50% more data.
